RECTANGULAR SHAPES ARE MY PITFALL AND LOTS OF PEOPLE WENT THERE BEFORE ME.
My artistic education took place at the St. Joost Academy in Breda (1975) and at the Academy for Art and Design in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (1978).
I developed craftsmanship at construction collective the Bouwerij in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (1981 – 1987) with, among others, teacher Peter Gunsing (*1953 – †2010), from Peter I got the steel alphabet punches (L & P) that I now use as a mark on my work.
From 2015, I have completely focused on working with wood.
Maarten Schepers from the wood atelier Workshop-Express taught me the tricks of gouging and free shaping in wood, during courses in the Netherlands and France (2016-2018).
In recent years I have developed a preference for more organic shapes in my creations, not only to enjoy your eyes but also to caress your hands and fingertips.
YOU SHOULD TOUCH WOOD AND WOOD COULD TOUCH YOU!
